Maternal and Child Health I

This lecture starts off with the review of Primary Health care. After that it defines maternal and child health and Reproductive Health. Then it takes up components of reproductive health one by one starting with safe motherhood, discussing its four pillars i.e family planning, antenatal care, clean and safe delivery and essential obstetrics care. Then is maternal mortality with its definition, rates/ratios, risk factors, direct and indirect causes, multiple causation web and prevention, which is dealt in four separate headings i.e preconception guidance, prenatal/antenatal care, natal care (C for clean) and post natal care.
