This lecture discusses the causes of sudden painless loss of vision which include conditions in which media becomes opaque like corneal edema, hypheamia, vitreous hemorrhages (No RAPD), retinal diseases like retinal detachment, macular diseases like macular degeneration and retinal vascular occulsions, optic nerve disease like optic neuritis, retrobulbar neuritis and papillitis, papiliedema, glaucoma, ischemic optic neuropathy and giant cell arteritis, hypoxic conditions like shock, g-LOC (an aviation related problem), simply standing up suddenly especially when sick or otherwise infirm, visual pathway disorders like homonymous hemianopia and cortical blindness, trauma and functional disorders.
